Dial S for sickness

Article Abstract:

Call-center employees are likely to be even more susceptible to the ill-health effects linked with Sick Building Syndrome than other white collar workers in a similar work environment. Call centers are dedicated computerized operations in which operators receive and make telephone calls with the calls processed and controlled by an Automatic Call Distribution System. Call center staff are monitored and expected to make a certain number of calls per hour. They are thus performing often stressful tasks in an environment where it is not possible to open a window or regulate the temperature.
