Falls from height: Complying with the new rules

Article Abstract:

The most common causes of fatal injury and the second most common cause of major injury to employees are falling from height through roofs and roof light or from scaffolding and ladders. According to the new Work at Height Regulations 2005 introduced on 6 April 2005, employers and employees have to take appropriate steps to avoid, prevent or reduce risks and also choose the right work equipment for preventing falls, mitigating the distance and consequences of the fall and provide personal protection equipment for preventing a fall.

New accords in construction and cement

Article Abstract:

The construction industry and the cement derivatives sector in Spain have reached pay agreements during the May 2003 period. Both sectors will see higher pay above the forecasted inflation rate.

Construction employers want eastern workers

Article Abstract:

The issue of shortage of skilled workers in construction sector of Poland is discussed. The sector seeks Polish government to allow workers from Belarus and Ukraine.
