Article Abstract:

The role of the occupational health team and the challenges faced by the different members are highlighted. The main function of the Occupational Health (OH) team is to identify and reduce health risks of the workplace, and it also has a major role in the surveillance of the work environment and work practice, dealing with things that affect workers' health and looking at the effect of health on work and work on health.

Preventing skin disease

Article Abstract:

Health and Safety Executive data for 2003/04 revealed that some 31,000 people in Britain suffered from skin disease, which was either caused or made worse by their work. By working with specialists, line managers, and informed individuals, occupational health teams can do a great deal to prevent dermatitis occurring at work.

Coping with stress

Article Abstract:

An estimate of 12.8 million working days were lost due to work related stress, according to Health and Safety executive (HSE) in 2003-04. To overcome this major problem in Britain, HSE has introduced new methods of handling stress due to which employers are under pressure to reduce the stress level among employees.
