Economics of an HSA

Article Abstract:

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) are available to individuals covered under high deductible health plans. The accounts give some advanced tax advantages to the self-employed and those working for small organizations. To determine whether HSA's provide any tax advantages to medium and large organizations, Mellon developed the HSA calculator for employers to calculate the greatest benefit to any given individual over his lifetime. The potential tax advantages of HSA are discussed.
