Whatever Happened to the Class of 1983?
Article Abstract:
Out of the top hundred fastest growing companies of 1983, twenty-seven have remained on the list for 1984. Forty of the remaining 1983 list did well in 1984, just not well enough to stay on the list. Eighteen other companies were disqualified because of falling sales. Others failed to meet the sales limits of $100,000-$25 million; they were either too high or too low. Mergers claimed other companies, and there was even a bankruptcy in the group.

When Is a Heart Attack Compensable?
Article Abstract:
State positions vary on the compensability of cardiovascular claims. The unusual exertion rule in workmen's compensation is supposed to rule out claims from non-work related disease. Many states do not acknowledge the unusual exertion clause. The burden of proof lies with the claimant to show that work-related functions contributed or accelerated the heart disease. Defense tactics are stressed with emphasis on preparation and investigation.
