Must carry/retransmission consent elections

Article Abstract:

Television broadcasting stations have until Oct 1, 1999, to determine whether to grant must carry rights or retransmission consent rights to cable systems. Stations are required to put such decisions in writing to the cable systems within their local market. Lack of action will be legally interpreted to mean that stations have elected must carry status.
