The role of television in Australia's 'paradigm shift' to Asia

Article Abstract:

The television programming developed in Australia is shifting to content that can be more easily integrated into the Asia Pacific region. Such a shift is occurring as Australia becomes more closely associated with Asian nations. The main initiative undertaken to improve Australia's relations with east Asian countries is the Australian Broadcasting Corp.'s Australia Television service.

Broadcast journalists utilize a variety of speech-related techniques to establish the authority of the person they are interviewing. During the interview, broadcast journalists often characterize, describe or identify a particular aspect of their source's persona that is relevant to the topic of the interview.
