A new player: Airbus military makes its move into transport with the A400M

Article Abstract:

Airbus Military Company is the new player in the military transport market where the multinational consortium launched its four-engine, turboprop A400M in May 2003 on the strength of requirements for 180 aircraft. The A400M, sized between the C-130 and C-17 is expected to come in the market in 2008 and enter service near the end of 2009.

Nexter Systems' Icone+ enhances battle management from platform to battalion

Article Abstract:

Nexter Systems introduced Icone+, its new addition in the series of battle management system (BMS) solutions, designed to provide BMS facilities from platform to battalion level. It is designed for narrower usage aboard tanks and other armoured vehicles and an advanced version of the Icone BMS is set aboard French Army Leclerc tanks.

Long time coming: A400M proceeds towards first flight

Article Abstract:

The Airbus Military A400M medium-lift transport aircraft completed all its pre-flight contractual milestones after 30 years of its conception in 1980s by the British, French and German governments. It is gearing up for its first flight, set for the third quarter of 2008.
