The British Army's future structure

Article Abstract:

The UK Defense Secretary Geoff Hoon, on 16 December 2004, announced the details of a radical modernization plan for the British Army, which is formally referred to as Future Army Structure (FAS). The armies that are structured for warfighting, handling present and future challenges, improved stability and employing more battalions for use are some of the main objectives of the FAS.

NATO and missile defense

Article Abstract:

The NATO Istanbul Summit held in June 2004 in relation to missile defense stated that they are examining options for addressing the increasing missile threat to Alliance territory, forces and population centers through an appropriate mix of political and defense efforts, along with deterrence. Details of various missile defense systems available with the NATO are given.

Military Satcoms 'on tap' with PFI

Article Abstract:

The PFI method of service provision, the established procurement strategy for the UK MoD, has been selected for future military satellite communications. Issues are presented concerning the urgent need for satellite communications to front-line operations, the high capital cost and high priority placed on service delivery.
