First live air picture marks a key milestone for Thales-NL's SMART-S Mk 2 search radar

Article Abstract:

Thales Nederland has reached a key milestone in the development of its SMART-S Mk 2 naval E/F band (S-band) multibeam 3-D volume search radar, with the achievement of the first live air picture on 1 July 2006. The system-testing activities for the first two SMART-S Mk 2 shipsets are in progress and the production is expected to be on yearly basis depending on the prediction of order intake, so as to supply the requirement within 18-20 months once the deal is signed.
