'Sea Barrier' tests inter-agency collaboration

Article Abstract:

The Canadian Navy-led exercise 'Sea Barrier' was aimed at developing coastal surveillance and enhancing the security of Canada's busy Pacific maritime approaches. The main activities of this exercise include a tabletop executive-level scenario-based discussion that is looking for the major seams in Canadian/US maritime security and an at-sea section testing tactical interoperability among various agencies.

Senate funds for Northrop Grumman Katrina damage spark new storm

Article Abstract:

New clash with critics in the Bush administration and among sceptical lawmakers had developed over the US Senate-backed plan, to cover part of Northrop Grumman's uninsured costs, arisen from damage caused by Hurricane Katrina. The bill authorized the US Navy to pay Northrop Grumman the costs of any Katrina-related 'business disruption'.
