Iran Tajikistan increase co-operation

Article Abstract:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Tajikistan's President Imomali Rahmonov signed eight memoranda of understanding on economic and political co-operation between the two countries on 18 January 2006. During a visit to Tehran, Rahmonov declared that Dushanbe would welcome further Iranian investment and participation in various dam and tunnel construction projects in Tajikistan, as well as increasing collaboration aimed at combating drug trafficking and organized crime in Central Asia.

Indo-Pakistan tensions delay pipeline plans

Article Abstract:

The ongoing tension between India and Pakistan has led to the lack of progress in the project of carrying Iranian natural gas through pipeline from the Gulf to Pakistan and India. In spite of requirements of acute energy, the political disputes have delayed the negotiations of the pipeline project.
