FCS NLOS-C prototype begins metal-cutting

Article Abstract:

Metal-cutting on the first early prototype, Increment 0, Future Combat System (FCS) Non-Line Of Sight Cannon (NLOS-C) began in December 2006. Contract for the Increment 0 placed with FCS lead system integrator Boeing/SAIC was initially for six NLOS-C early prototypes, but the number was subsequently increased to eight, according to BAE Systems Land & Armaments, who is responsible for developing the chassis for NLOS-C, together with General Dynamics.

USAF to deploy multi-INT system

Article Abstract:

The US Air Force (USAF) proposed to begin testing of the Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) Block 10.2 in early 2005, and plans to equip 29 sites worldwide. The Block 10.2 implementation is expected to provide the USAF with the ability to perform all processes related to multi-intelligence (multi-INT) operations at a single workstation.

Team continues push for STARs re-engining

Article Abstract:

Northrop Grumman's team has conducted a supplemental analysis to provide additional information to both the US Air Force (USAF) and Congress, for enabling them to survive into the re-engining project. The proposed programme would retrofit the E-8Cs with new engines to be bought or leased by the USAF.
