Filling in the gaps: ISPS code must be all-inclusive

Article Abstract:

The implementation of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) in July 2004 seems to be a success as ISPS has helped make ships and ports more secure. To achieve uniformity in the implementation of the ISPS Code, it is important to work on the inconsistent implementation with varying levels of security from port to port across the world.

US Coast Guard creates primarily 'offensive' counter-terrorism force

Article Abstract:

A new deployable counter-terrorism force, the Maritime Security Response Team (MSRT) with a range of new capabilities was established by the US Coast Guard (USCG). Due to terrorism attacks, USCG set up organizations called Maritime Safety and Security Teams (MSSTs), to provide fast response capabilities and to enhance homeland security efforts in major ports.
