Foreign friends: China expands relations with India and Pakistan

Article Abstract:

The political motives behind the Friendship 2006 counter-terrorism exercises from 10-18 December 2006 are examined. Sino-Pakistan counter-terrorism exercises have indicated increase in overseas deployments for the Chinese military and its defense diplomacy and they have also shown China's desire to reassure Islamabad over the alliance while seeking to counter an improving Indo-US strategic relationship.

Space to maneuver: Satellite attack upsets US space supremacy

Article Abstract:

January 11 2007 saw China successfully demonstrate its possession of an anti-satellite (ASAT) missile and this is viewed as an example of the country's increasing ability to emerge as a potential challenger to the U.S. in the race towards space domination. Details of the event as well as its implications for the region and the U.S. are presented and Chinese anti-satellite weaponry is examined.
