Greece plans mid-life update for Hydra class

Article Abstract:

The Hellenic Navy (HN) of Greece is planning a mid-life update (MLU) for its four MEKO 200HN Hydra-class frigates in service since the 1990s. Modernization of the ships' tactical and communications systems, and enhancement of their anti-air warfare, land-attack, self-defense and electronic warfare capabilities are planned in order to enable them to meet modified requirements necessary for participation in multinational crisis-response operations in littoral and open ocean waters, and also to combat conventional and asymmetric threats.
