Supporting cast ready to enter the limelight

Article Abstract:

The US military force is in need of multipurpose, versatile vessels at a cost below that of traditional warship design, and capable of performing a range of tasks including sealift, afloat command and control (C2), and logistic support for forces deployed ashore. A number of innovative design solutions are developed that attempt to address the dichotomy of cost and capability.
