Making the transition from the current to the future force

Article Abstract:

The G-8 is focused on proving the highest level of support possible for the ongoing conversion to the Army modular force, which represents a true transformation for the US Army to achieve Future Force availability, and capability to respond militarily in the dynamic operational environment. TheG-8 team is leading the Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) strategy, which will help in moving the current Army modular force to the future army modular force.

Acting Secretary of the US Army explains how the US Army tries to address simultaneously the twin challenges of transforming the army for the 21st century and fighting the global war on terrorism. His Manpower and Reserve affairs Department oversees a range of initiatives, including ongoing mobilization of the US Army Reserve and Army National Guard units, while continuing the work of transformation.

Flagging a transforming army

Article Abstract:

Future U.S. Army organizations would be more modular, standardized, responsive and deployable, thereby increasing the number of combat forces available to combatant commanders, and the mission would be to destroy the enemy. With the transformation of the Army, the colors and flags that symbolize the warrior ethos, values and traditions become more important.
