Article Abstract:

Iraq's unconventional tactics though initially shocking have not deterred the U.S. forces due to the realistic operational environment of Army war games and exercises. In fact, these tactics have been documented in the Contemporary Operational Environment (COE), which has been debated upon and revised several times to incorporate continued gaming and real-world experience.

Watching the military eat its seed corn

Article Abstract:

The impact of curtailing military officer education programs during stress periods in order to increase the pool of deployable officers is discussed. Professional military education has become a necessity for the army as the level of responsibility for critical decision-making in the military services is continuing to drift downward.

What rice paid for eventual success in Iraq?

Article Abstract:

A total military and civilian fatalities in Iraq estimated about somewhere between 16,000 and 18,000 in the current war in Iraq as of February 2005. This number of fatalities is compared with the December 2004 tsunami's fatalities in the Southeast Asia that took more than 125,000 lives and the value of human life is discussed.
