Realtime video communications: Marines gain new battlefield insight via realtime airborne video and DataPath communications solutions

Article Abstract:

Marine Corp Systems Command has designed the video storage wide area network (VSWAN) project to leverage satellite communications that provide a secure wireless communications infrastructure to disseminate UAV video feed to select theater command posts. The VSWAN project provides the US Marine corps with new theater visibility and intelligence to conduct reconnaissance, coordinate mission planning, fine-tune air and artillery targeting and provides realtime information to intelligence analysts to assess the latest developments.

Digital command and control: cyber leash or maneuver warfare facilitator

Article Abstract:

The author believes that digital communications and the use of command and control personal computers have the potential to improve the use of maneuver forces. The author believes that the goal of digital technology should be to decentralize, not centralize, the chain of command.

Ship-to-urban objective maneuver: a communications nightmare; we need systems flexibility

Article Abstract:

Military communication systems are often need in urban environments, as well as ship-to-urban settings. To meet these challenges, the Marine Corp is testing systems for these specific uses.
