The French navy: A global player

Article Abstract:

The orientation of the French Navy, which has a permanent presence in all the seas of the globe, is derived from the needs for the build-up of European defense and the needs for the fight against international terrorism and various trafficking. The contributions of the French Navy are organized around operational missions derived from four strategic functions, namely deterrence, protection, prevention and power projection.

A naval force in evolution

Article Abstract:

The most significant changes in the Brazilian Navy's strategic concept in order to assure the country's maritime trade and enforce Brazilian legislation in its jurisdictional waters are described. The acquisition and upgrading of large and medium-size units are the most important projects that are related to the Brazilian Navy.

Brazilian Navy

Article Abstract:

The Brazilian Navy Command is subordinated to Ministry of Defense and it is generally organized into two sectors, namely an operative and administrative one. The hierarchical structure present in the Brazilian Navy and the future operations and exercises in the 2nd half of 2004 are described.
