The army reserve: Focus on the future

Article Abstract:

The US Army Reserve is leading in changing its organization, training and preparation from a force in reserve to a complementary force, providing skill-rich capabilities to combatant joint forces around the globe for which its has set several clear objectives, known as the Federal Reserve Restructuring Initiative to guide future efforts. Two main elements giving focus and impetus to changes over the next several years are the Army Reserve Expeditionary Force (AREF) and Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) 2005.

30 years later- the all-volunteer force and the Army Reserve

Article Abstract:

The Army Reserve with a force of selected volunteers, in a continuous state of mobilization, deploys and directs the units and soldiers to the Army, whenever and wherever required. Even after the completion of its 30 years, the effective ways in which the Army Reserve engage the all-volunteer force affecting its relevance and readiness to the Army and the joint force in the current fight are detailed.

Changing to a 21st-century Army Reserve

Article Abstract:

The face of war has changed dramatically after the 11 September 2001 terrorist attack in US, with the country becoming engaged in a protracted war. The changed face of war has greatly affected the US Army Reserve component with the unit being transformed to consist of combat support and combat service support units, which provide skill-rich capabilities that complement the active Army.
