United States Marine Corps organization and missions

Article Abstract:

The Marine Corps in 2004 is transforming doctrine, forces, and equipment to face future challenges, even as the service operates from a wartime footing. Building on the successful techniques for amphibious warfare that helped to win World War II, the Marine Corps is maturing its present concept of expeditionary maneuver warfare from the sea, including lessons from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2001 through 2003.

Bluefire upgrade helps indoor simulators cut the cord

Article Abstract:

The Bluefire upgrade, using Bluetooth wireless technology eliminates the tether that was attached to the simulation system to provide feedback to trainees and instructors. As a part of an upgrade to the Indoor Simulated Marksmanship Trainer system, the Marine Corps ordered approximately 1,200 Bluefire simulators and 4,000 optical devices in 2006.

Hand grenades and mines

Article Abstract:

M33 fragmentation grenade is modified to M67 fragmentation grenade, which has entered in to the Marine Corps inventory in 1971. M19 and M22 are the mines used by the Marines Corps against enemy tanks and other heavy vehicles.
