U.S. WILL ASK U.N. FOR MOVE TO WIDEN THE FORCE IN IRAQ

Article Abstract:

The US will attempt to convince the UN Security Council to authorize deployment of foreign troops to Iraq. The terrorist bombing of UN headquarters in Baghdad has given the resolution greater urgency for increasing security in Iraq. Many countries have resisted the US request for military help without an official commitment from the UN. The US expects that India, Pakistan and Turkey would provide major resources, but each country has been reluctant to support the US campaign in Iraq as extensively as the Bush administration wishes.
