Deploying the full arsenal: fighting hunger with biotechnology

Article Abstract:

The modern efforts to fight hunger and the projected future problem are reviewed. In this relation the concept of biotechnology is analyzed which if deployed could lead to an agricultural revolution more impressive than the Green Revolution and make a difference in waging a successful war on hunger.

Improving African food security

Article Abstract:

The Green Revolution that boosted output elsewhere did not have any impact on the food production of Africa with relation to its population growth. The poor natural resource base of agriculture and the unfavorable socioeconomic conditions are largely to blame.

Ownership is over-rated

Article Abstract:

Ownership is less a policy instrument than a policy outcome. It is suggested that policy makers and policy advocates should reflect on why local actors behave irresponsibly and then work with them to design appropriate solutions.
