Introduction to the special section on assessment in psychological treatment: A necessary step for effective intervention

Article Abstract:

Mental health treatment is undergoing changes as health care providers place constraints on therapists, although psychologists are have been slow to respond to the new demands, and are not implementing personality measurement in treatment planning. Psychological assessment is an efficient way of detecting problems and can aid behaviour changes more effectively than if assessment were not used.

Utility of MMPI-2 indicators of response distortion: Receiver operating characteristic analysis

Article Abstract:

Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2) indicators of response distortion were evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. Malingerer responses were compared with defendants undergoing pretrial evaluations and general psychiatric inpatients. Differences amongst indicators of defensiveness were small.
