Overshadowed by Beijing

Article Abstract:

The stark contrast in Hong Kong and Mainland coverage demonstrated once again that Hong Kong remains the only city in the People's Republic of China with a mostly unfettered press. Hong Kong Journalists Association noted that newspapers were more supportive of pro-democracy views and gradually offers more favorable Beijing coverage and neutral news and articles or not covering certain sensitive stories at all.

Many Chinese middle school students in urban areas enjoy reading and their favorite kinds of books have been identified by a survey from the China Book Business Report. The favorite category for this market is stories by young adults about their lives, followed by literature classics and self-help titles.

China: an open land for the rights business

Article Abstract:

The Chinese market is ripe for publishers who wish to sell reprinting and translation rights for books in their inventory. Foreign publishers are forbidden to operate in China, so the only access to the market is through official publishers such as the Chinese Youth Press.
