Centre of attention

Article Abstract:

The demand for retail outlets in Richmond, England, outstrips supply. Leisure outlets are not likely to increase due to restrictions made by the authorities. Some local agents suggest the Richmond ice rink should be reopened in the town centre although others point out the resulting rise in visitors will increase traffic congestion. Leisure development in Kingston-on Thames, England, has not kept pace with the retail market which is very buoyant. Local agents hope the main shopping centre in Walton-upon-Thames, England, will be more popular when it is refurbished.

Centre forward

Article Abstract:

There has been very little new retail development in Bradford, England, since the 1970s, and retailers have tended to focus on nearby Leeds, England. However, efforts are now being made to revive Bradford's central shopping facilities. Experts believe that there is potential for retail rental growth from the present zone A levels of between 861 pounds sterling and 969 pounds sterling per sq mt to more than 1,076 pounds sterling per sq mt. There has also been an increase in the number of speculative office developments.
