The plastics industry has flourished and is expected to continue growing through 2006. Plastics industry professionals are becoming increasingly knowledgeable about where to locate new facilities and, in the process, also drawing their suppliers to the business climate of choice. For instance, Texas' pro-business policies have made it the top plastics producing state with Houston, TX, being the center of plastics manufacturing in terms of suppliers and producers.

European outlook: Plastics co-siting in the Netherlands

Article Abstract:

Plastics manufacturers have been seeking co-siting opportunities, which involves building a new plant on or next to an existing site to share resources, utilities and services. This trends is most evident in the Netherlands, which has a number of major chemical clusters. For example, DuPont Dow Elastomers recently selected Terneuzen, the Netherlands, for a new elastomers plant. This plant will be build next to Dow's existing operations.

Why plastics plants are running at full throttle

Clusters of plastics plants are continuing to emerge across the world. The clusters are encouraged by the proximity to raw petroleum. Manufacturers also look to locate close to their main clients, such as car manufacturers, or in areas with good transport links.
