Article Abstract:

Violinist Nigel Kennedy has spent his adult life rebelling against the very conventional classical music training he was forced to undergo as a child. He enjoyed great success with the 'Four Seasons' recording, and then hid away from the limelight for five years. However, he returned to performing in 1997. He recently appeared in Vienna, Austria, where he paid homage to violinist Fritz Kreisler. He performed Kreisler's String Quartet in A minor, as well as Bach's Sonata Number Three and his own 'Hendrix: Concerto in Suite Form.'

The Canadian Health Protection Branch has approved two new vaccines for bacterial meningitis. The National Advisory Committee on Immunization has also recommended the routine immunization for meningitis prevention in all children starting at two months of age.
