At last, Dr Carey comes out and exposes himself in a poor light

Article Abstract:

George Carey, Archbishop of Canterbury, has made rather obscure and pompous statements about the Crime and Disorder Bill, under which the gay male and heterosexual ages of consent would be equalized. He seems to believe that equalizing the age of consent would make boys of 16 and 17 the target of older men and lead them into a lifetime of homosexuality. He has linked himself with the forces of intolerance and reaction, and hides the nature of his objection to equalizing the age of consent behind pomposity.

Who will join battle to save our ancient groat?

Article Abstract:

Many Britons have mixed views about whether the UK should join European monetary union. They wish to protect their country's traditions, but recognize that there is a risk of being left behind continental Europe if the UK does not join European monetary union. It is important to be practical, but there is also the potential to capture the power of deep emotions, converting the desire to protect traditions into a desire for a better Europe.

The only language we understand

Article Abstract:
