Community where many had reason to kill

Article Abstract:

A police investigation into the recent murder of Tarsem Singh Purewal, a Sikh newspaper editor, has so far failed to yield positive results. Police have discovered that his newspaper, 'Des Pardes,' regularly names rapists, adulterers and alleged child abusers, but its reputation had until now not spread beyond the Punjabi-speaking community. The paper seems to thrive on scandals, but denies that it is breaking the law in any way. It is now thought that the murder could have been a revenge attack by a Sikh group fighting for a separate Khalistan in the Punjab, India.

Widow of man who died in knife struggle 'devastated.'

Article Abstract:

Police believe that David Stuchbery was murdered with his own knife as he attempted to sexually assault a neighbour. The victim, who was badly injured, is now recovery and has named Stuchbery as her attacker. He had earlier tried to gain access to another house in the same village. The crime has shocked a close-knit community, where Stuchbery was regarded as a quiet, pleasant man. The victim is not under arrest, and police are appealing for witnesses.
