Get back in the driving seat and change gear

Article Abstract:

Somebody who is driven is not necessarily a workaholic, according to stress expert Cary Cooper, an occupational psychologist. He regards the feeling of being out of control as probably the most important factor in experiencing stress in modern life. It has become increasingly common for men to feel that they lack control over their life, and many now feel threatened. He used to work extremely hard, and this damaged his relationship with his first wife and his children. He has now realized that it is important to separate his working life from his family life.

Why teaching is sexy in the States

Article Abstract:

There is currently extremely strong interest in teaching as profession in the US, both among young people and among middle-aged people choosing a second career. It seems that more people are now being motivated by idealism, rather than self-centred goals, and they are keen to make a valuable contribution to the community. They are not concerned about the fact that teaching is a relatively low-paid profession, as they feel that money is not particularly important.

The woman who made country & western sexy

Article Abstract:

Country and western singer Shania Twain enjoys her sexy image, but does not feel that it is really part of her nature. She believes that her music is direct and down-to-earth, rather than being feminine in a contrived way. She was obsessed with music from an early age, and her parents took this obsession and turned it into a career. She was prepared to make compromises in order to establish her reputation, but has now been able to record her own music.
