Individual classics

Article Abstract:

The best clothes are those which can be worn every season, do not look dated and are simple and free, according to fashion designer Shirin Guild. She has been very much inspired by the clothing worn by nomadic tribal women in Iran, which is square-cut and layered. Her clothes are very expensive, but have still become extremely popular. They are made from very high quality natural fibres and will last a long time. She is also inspired by Japanese designers Yohki Yamamoto, Comme des Garcons and Issey Miyake.

And here's one I made earlier

Article Abstract:

The do-it-yourself approach is a key feature of fashion collections for spring and summer 1999. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have shown dresses painted by hand with flowers and foliage, while the growing popularity of hand-knitted items is reflected in the collection designed by Narciso Rodriguez for Spanish luxury goods company Loewe. Donatella Versace has made extensive use of pin tucks and dressmaking features for her third collection since her brother's death.

Let them wear fur?

Article Abstract:

Wearing real fur is no longer the sensitive issue which it once was. Indeed, many people now regard wearing real fur as no worse than wearing leather or eating meat. A number of fashion houses are now beginning to use real fur again, and there have been very few protests. Fur sales in the UK rose by 30% in 1995, and it is clear that people have become bored with the issue of whether wearing real fur is cruel.
