The direct selling channel

Article Abstract:

The direct selling channel, often referred to as single level marketing, is discussed with regard to its ability to compete effectively with other methods of direct selling in the future. SLM has performed less well than multi-level or network marketing and out of the two methods, person to person and party plan, person to person (PTP) is the most prevalent, representing 87% of sales in 1996. SLM is a female-dominated industry, and ideal products for SLM tend to be jewellery and cosmetics. The different aspects of PTP style direct selling are described and profiles of leading SLM companies, including Ann Summers, Avon and Betterware, are provided.

Leadership changes aim high

Business and planning officials need to work together to ensure technology parks are promoted, along with providing social and economic benefits to local communities.
