What a difference a decade (or three) can make

Article Abstract:

It is likely that a number of problems will arise in the marriage between MP Malcolm Bruce, who is 53, and 26-year-old Rosemary Vetterlein. If they have any children, Bruce will be much older than other fathers, and his wife may find herself having to nurse him in his old age. She will inevitably change as she matures, putting further strain on the marriage. There are also likely to be significant cultural differences between them. However, marriages where there is a large gap can sometimes be very successful.

Is teaching only a job? Well lets make it professional again

Article Abstract:

Information and communications technologies can play a significant role in allowing teachers to communicate with each other and thus avoid becoming isolated. The UK government has recognized this, and believes that the National Grid for Learning, which will link all schools and libraries by 2002, will allow the teaching profession to eliminate isolation and improve its image. Most teachers feel that computers offer interesting learning opportunities, but some feel threatened by them.

The ultimate make-over

Article Abstract:

Channel 5 has won the bidding contest to show the 1998 Miss World competition on television in the UK. The competition will be transmitted via satellite from the Seychelles, and will be shown on terrestrial television in the UK for the first time since 1988. Channel 5 believes that Miss World will attract some opposition from those who believe that it is exploitative, but also feels that the social climate has become more favourable towards Miss World again.
