Communicating risk to the public

Article Abstract:

Information that can help the public make informed decisions about risks associated to health, safety and the environment are presented. The "mental models" approach, influence diagram, open-ended procedure, structured procedures, communication materials and conventional wisdom methods of risk communication are evaluated. Notwithstanding allegations of manipulation, the viability of risk communication is still upheld.
