Future moves

Article Abstract:

The role of information technology (IT) personnel is predicted to change dramatically as a response to changes in the corporate IT environment. One of the major changes is the increasing trend towards subcontracting some IT operations, especially ones that only involve routinary tasks, to outside parties. However, most companies agree that systems and technical strategy and business analysis should not be outsourced. These changes, however, will not diminish the responsibility of IT directors in ensuring their firms' effective and efficient management.

Filling the gaps

Europe's motor industry is not reacting to changing demands in the marketplace, according to computer organization Cap Gemini's model European Automotive Model. Manufacturing processes and logistical arrangements are too inflexible to meet changing market requirements, says expert Garel Rhys. The industry may go through a period of consolidation to improve product portfolios. The Internet has an increasing influence over the market.
