Repetition and generalities

Article Abstract:

Peter J. Reed has written lucid books on writer and painter Kurt Vonnegut Jr. However, his latest attempt at discussing Vonnegut's fiction failed to significantly focus on the subject at hand. After devoting nearly half of the book on Vonnegut's short fiction, the rest of Reed's 'The Short Fiction of Kurt Vonnegut' concentrated on the author's non-fiction works, including his works as a high school and a college journalist. Instead of discussing the stories concerned, Reed chose to list down the values and themes in Vonnegut's novels, making him vulnerable to repetitions and generalizations.

Oxidation of methanol over a palladium monolithic automotive catalyst

Article Abstract:

Methanol (CH3OH) is used as an alternative automotive fuel because it has lower evaporative emissions as compared with conventional motor gasoline. However, oxidation of CH3OH produces formaldehyde (HCHO), a harmful compound photochemically reactive in the atmosphere. To reduce the risks posed by CH3OH oxidation products, techniques to reduce CH3OH emissions by using automotive catalytic converters designed for use with CH3OH have been tested. Experimental data and the results of experiments on actual automobiles are compared and discussed.

You ask the questions

Article Abstract:

Evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins feels both happy and rather humbled by the fact that many people believe their lives have been changed by his books. He does not regard himself as particularly clever, but possibly just clear. He believes that some people may find clarity intimidating. He has doubts that religion can withstand deep understanding, but believes that it is important to devote time to studying the Bible and serious theology.
