The name of the game

Article Abstract:

The growing popularity of golf in recent years has led to the increased demand for high-performance golf clubs. Cleveland Golf realized the sales potentials of this development and has begun to explore the use of computer aided design/computer aided manufacture (CAD/CAM) systems in their design operations. The company decided to use STRIM system from Matra Datavision because it is able to quickly create the artistic and swoopy contours in their designs. STRIM also had dimension-driven modeling features which enabled previous designs to be easily adopted to new specifications.

Case study

Article Abstract:

A large number of Samsonite's products including Epsilon have been designed at the studio of FM Design, a British consultancy. Correct choice and use of plastic materials was essential to arrive at the durability standard of Samsonite. It was to have a low price and low weight also. The 3D CAD, which plays a crucial role in the development of Samsonite products, has enabled the complex design of Epsilon to be produced at a level that meets all specifications. The market response to the product has been encouraging.
