The "nondipper" elderly: a clinical entity or a bias?

Article Abstract:

The prevalence of nondipper (ND) blood pressure profile in the elderly is determined and the presentation of ND pattern of ambulatory blood pressure in the elderly as an artifact or a specific clinical entity is examined. Impaired sleeping in the nondipper elderly is demonstrated by actigraphy and the nondipping pattern is found to be associated with detrimental clinical conditions as they are independent of the discomfort of cuff-inflation during the night occurring in association with higher comorbidity and polypharmacy.
