Promoting justice in the delivery of services to juvenile delinquents: the ecosystemic natural wrap-around model

Article Abstract:

The Ecosystemic Natural Wrap-Around Model is an innovative approach to chronic juvenile delinquency and is based on four premises. The first is that those involved in the intervention or are affected by delinquency define the term differently. Second, that successful intervention does not mean the imposition or acceptance of any single cultural value in the intervention program. Third, that the whole environment impacts on everyone involved, and fourth, that a truly effective intervention takes the dynamics of differing cultures of those involved in the intervention process into account.

Special populations among older persons

Article Abstract:

An increasing number of older persons are in need of special services. The characteristics inherent to these special persons include presence of physical and social problems. There are a number of caregiver systems addressing the needs of special populations but they are still faced with several problems. The different service systems should coordinate to effectively create an ideal system for giving care to the special populations.

Enhancing mental health services delivery for diverse populations

Article Abstract:

In 1990, mental health problems were responsible for $148 billion worth of social and economic costs, compared to $99 billion on respiratory disease, and $160 billion on cardiovascular problems. However, only a small percentage of mental health problem sufferers seek help. It is argued that attitudes to mental illness and the cost of mental health care often deter individuals from seeking help.
