The causes of electrical fatalities at work

Article Abstract:

Several characteristics distinguish work-related fatalities involving electricity from the causes of fatal accidents in general. This was revealed in an analysis of the circumstances of work-related deaths due to electricity, which examined two groups of cases. These were cases where electrocution was the direct cause of death and cases where deaths occurred in occupations with high exposure to electricity but where cause of death was not necessarily electrocution. Unsafe or risky normal operating procedures were found to be the most common contributing factor.
