Peak slump for holiday hotels

Article Abstract:

Tour operators are putting increasing pressure on hoteliers in southern Europe to cut rates in response to poor summer bookings. Turkey has been performing well, with bookings up 60% from the same period in 1994. However, arrivals in Greece fell by 1.3% in the first four months of 1995, and bookings from the UK in Cyprus are thought to have fallen by up to 17% from 1994 levels. Hoteliers are now calling emergency meetings to discuss the problem.
