Rewards

Article Abstract:

Praise and awards may be as effective in increasing productivity as financial incentives. However, their benefits are largely under-estimated. Rewarding good work encourages initiative. However, regular recognition is more effective than an annual award. A manager should recognise the achievement quickly and be specific about the work being praised. A consistent approach maintains credibility.

Co-operation

Article Abstract:

Effective management depends on good working relationships. Human relations policies should emphasise consistent decision-making, high work standards, accountability and problem solving. Poor communication may damage working relationships. Inadequate inter-personal skills may create employee resentment. Managers should aim to prevent conflict arising but should confront it if necessary.
