Rock in the quarry

Article Abstract:

A gravel extraction quarry in Denmark has been partly redeveloped to incorporate the surrounding landscape, at a cost of 270,000 pounds sterling. The renovated area is known as the Hedeland Regional Park and it provides recreational facilities for citizens living in the area around Copenhagen, Denmark. The new facilities include an artificial ski-slope, gardens, a centre for motorcross, a golf course and an arena for audiences of up to 3,500 people. The redevelopment work was started in 1978 and has been organized by Interressantselskab Hedeland.

A Sun compass in monarch butterflies

Article Abstract:

There is evidence to suggest that monarch butterflies can use a Sun compass for orientation as they migrate each autumn from breeding grounds in Canada and the US to over-wintering sites in Mexico. These butterflies have been found to use the position of the Sun and the time of day to orient their bodies, but it is also likely that they have a non-celestial mechanism of orientation too. This ensures that they are able to orient properly when the Sun is not shining.

She who must be obeyed

Article Abstract:

Many fashion designers learned about style from the mothers, and often cite their mother as a source of inspiration. Both Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld have attributed their inspiration to their mothers. Some designers even share their clothes with their mothers as both have similar tastes in clothes.
