Foxp3-dependent programme of regulatory T-cell differentiation

Article Abstract:

Foxp3-dependent features are dissociated from those induced by the signals preceding and promoting its expression in mice in order to show that the latter signals include many functional and transcriptional hallmarks of regulatory [CD4.sup.+] T cells ([T.sub.R] cells). The results have indicated that a lineage commitment factor might act in both an opportunistic and adaptive fashion during cellular differentiation by amplifying beneficial and correcting disabling features of precursor cells.

Genomic defence with a slice of pi

Article Abstract:

Two research groups have proposed an unanticipated explanation for the production and amplification of the small, silencing RNAs found in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. RNA interference (RNAi) is the best known silencing pathway guided by small RNAs.
