Rae1 and H60 ligands of the NKG2D receptor stimulate tumour immunity

Article Abstract:

It has been established that ectopic expression of the murine NKG2D ligands Rae1-beta or H60 in a number of tumour cell lines leads to strong rejection of the tumour cells in syngeneic mice. This shows that NKG2D ligand expression and resulting activation of natural killer cells and CD8+ T cells can create a strong barrier to the establishment of tumours in vivo.

Tails of histones lost

Article Abstract:

The modifications around the double-stranded break in DNA site help to coordinate DNA repair with cell-cycle checkpoints. The addition and removal of the phosphate group on the tail of a histone protein known as H2AX creates a molecular switch that helps to maintain genomic stability.

The DNA damage pathway regulates innate immune system ligands of the NKG2D receptor

Article Abstract:

Mouse and human NKG2D ligands are upregulated in non-tumor cell lines by genotoxic stress and stalled DNA replication. The DNA damage response might also participate in alerting the immune system to the presence of potentially dangerous cells.
