How deal will affect investors

Shares of Kmart and Sears soared after the merger announcement in Philadelphia in 2004 and the investors who won Kmart Stock will get one share in the new company for each share of Kmart they own, in an exchange free of any tax. The new merged company, to be called Sears Holdings Co., will be facing the burden of shedding the problems faced by both the parent companies and its business would depend on how well it handles these problems.
