UK architectural firm John McAslan & Partners demonstrated a high level of customer service committment and attention to detail, earning the title of Architectural Practice of the year from the 1999 Building Award committee. Difficult architectural projects were undertaken with enthusiasm and committment, providing solutions to fit the needs of the client. The judges of the award felt John McAslan & Partners showed the way forward for architect firms in dealing with clients and contractors.

House-owners were asked their opinion on levels of workmanship, customer service and style when the committee of the 1999 Building Awards were assessing firms for the best housebuilder award. Customers rated firms for their sensitivity to being new house owners, ensuring roads were kept accessible and noise levels to a minimum during early hours. The Major Housebuilder award went to Redrow Group, which was felt to have demonstrated high levels of customer service.
